The Director of Tourism of Galicia, Xosé Merelles, presented the Galicia Calidade certification seal to the tinned fish company A Mariscadora, from the Pontevedra municipality of Cambados. At the event, the contract with the company was signed and a tour of its facilities was also held.

The Director of Tourism of Galicia, Xosé Manuel Merelles, highlighted the quality of Galicia's canning sector, ‘another attraction to draw tourists to Galicia each year and which has become a global benchmark’. With this certification, ‘we are simply recognising the work of A Mariscadora, which, with over 50 years of history, has been taking the quality and produce of our rías around the world’.

Costas e Miñán was founded in 1966 in Vilaxoán (Ría de Arousa) by two entrepreneurs, thus beginning a cannery defined by tradition, dedication and respect for the sea. Under its main brand, Mariscadora, the company reflects its link with the local fishing culture and its commitment to quality in every product.

With over 50 years of history and a family-run character, it has maintained an artisanal process passed down through three generations, where experience and attention to detail guarantee preserves that preserve their flavour and authenticity. Situated in Cambados, in the heart of the Ría de Arousa, the company benefits from a unique environment for its marine richness, which is key to the excellence of its products.

Under the signed contract, the canning company will be able to certify the following products: mussels, scallops, cockles, sardinines, anchovies, calamari, bonito and tuna, marketed under the A Mariscadora brand. With this certification, the guarantee mark now includes a total of six canning companies with certified products, namely Jealsa, Cortizo, Cabo de Peñas, Lago Paganini and A Mariscadora for fish and seafood preserves, and also A Rosaleira for vegetable preserves.

149 certified companies

The guarantee mark currently has a total of 149 companies with certified products and services from all sectors of the Galician economy, where tourism and gastronomy account for more than 60% of the total.
