Feij贸o announces a partnership with designations of origin to promote the internalisation of galician wines under the Galicia Calidade brand, with actions to start in the german market

He says that this action is developed under a cooperation protocol between the Igape and the regulatory boards of the Designations of Origin Rias Baixas, Ribeiro, Ribeira Sacra, Monterrei Valdeorras and Augardentes y Licores  (Spirits and Liquors) of Galicia

The president of the Galician government, Alberto N煤帽ez Feij贸o, has announced today at the press conference after the Cabinet, an alliance with designations of origin to promote the internationalization of Galician wines, with actions to begin in the German market. "We have passed the international promotion of Galician wines and spirits covered by the various designations of origin which will be promoted for two years, 2015 and 2016".

As emphasized by the Galician President, this is a "pioneering action" that is developed under a cooperation protocol between the Igape and the regulatory boards of Designations of Origin Rias Baixas, Ribeiro, Ribeira Sacra, Monterrei Valdeorras and Marc Brandies and Liqueurs of Galicia.

Feijoo specified that the plan will focus on Germany during its first year. A country selected by professionals of the wine-making industry due to its special interest to producers as it is a neighboring easily accessible market, and has over 90 million people as potential consumers. 

After pointing out that in 2014, a total of 80 Galician wineries exported more than 600,000 liters worth 2.8 million euros to this market, the President of the Galician government explained that the goal is to triple exports of Galician wineries to the German market in 2017, keeping the average prices of drinks.

In order to increase these figures, under the protection and the reputation of the Galicia Calidade Brand, the President of the Autonomous Region said that several promotional activities will be developed to raise awareness in those markets of  wines with Galician Designation of Origin and increase sales of those wineries or Designations already marketing their products or of those trying to enter the German market.
