The Regional Minister for the Rural Environment, José González, the Regional Minister for the Sea, Alfonso Villares, and the managing director of Galicia Quality, Ana Méndez, attended the second day of the Gastronomic Forum Barcelona, an international fair that brings together thousands of people and hundreds of companies and in which the Galician food industry is promoted through its presence in the stand of Galicia Quality.
In the space set up by the Xunta through the collaboration of the Consellería do Medio Rural, the Consellería do Mar and the Consellería de Economía, Industria e Innovación there are 26 companies from key sectors of the countryside and the sea together with a selection of products which, as a whole, complete the showcase of Galicia's food and gastronomic potential. All those present at the fair, which is being held until tomorrow in Barcelona, are under the Galicia Calidade brand -or in the process of certification-, or covered by indications such as designation of origin or protected geographical indication.
Within the Quality Experiences area, the programme included live cooking demonstrations - "Merluza de Celeiro"- or tastings of Galician products with quality labels - "Irmáns do Leite / Mel de Galicia", "A horta con selo" and the award-winning whites at the 2023 Galician Tastings-, all focused on promoting Galician gastronomy based on Galician products. These activities are led by professionals from the Galician catering industry and staff from the regulatory councils and Agacal.
